Please check whether you have selected the appropriate country flag of the game at the top of this page (not where you are at the moment). The game content varies from country to country. I.e. if you are playing the US version of the game in Canada, you need to choose the US flag. If you are playing the UK version in the Netherlans, you need to choose the UK flag.
The aim of the game is to prove successful police work together as a team. You have to go through documents, draw clever conclusions and think outside the box.
THE FOLLOWING MISSIONS ARE WAITING FOR YOU:
Solves the case of Walter Kramer's death in Westerlake.
WHO CAUSED THE CAR ACCIDENT?
WHAT SECRET LIES HIDDEN BEHIND HIGHFLOWER LTD?
HOW DID EDWARD BREAM FALL ILL?
How did Walter Kramer die? Was it an accident, or was a culprit responsible for his death?
BEFORE YOU START:
Carefully study all documents!
Take notes!
Make sure that everyone has read every document!
If you are not in the United Kingdom and do not want to spend money on telephone calls, you can also call the telephone numbers in the game free of charge via the Internet. Click here to do so:https://call.tele-comi.com
In certain parts of the game, you can ask for a clue if you get stuck. We decided against giving you tips throughout the game as this would have made it too easy...
If you're stuck, you should have a look at some of the materials whose significance you have so far not quite understood and select one of the following search terms.
WATCH OUT - SPOILER ALARM: Only enter the search terms if you really can't continue the game without a clue - it's only half as much fun with tips.
Starting the game
Dear private detectives,
Have you read through all the information on the back carefully? Then you can start.
Good luck and have fun with your investigations!
P.S.
Do you need help to get started? Then have a look at the additional hints.
THE START
When starting the game, it is best to divide up all the documents amongst the players. Each player should read the documents in silence and then share all the information with the other players (or read them again aloud).
THE POLICE REPORT
Take a look at the police report together. It will inform you of the particulars of the case.
THE POSTER
For the best results, attach the poster to a wall and make notes on the various people involved.
AND NOW?
As you bring together the information from all the players, you will find that various local residents fall under suspicion. Make a note of their presumed motives. Do they have alibis? Can you eliminate any suspects? The more information you collect, the more people you will be able to eliminate – until you finally understand the full story and are able to identify the culprit.
TIP
During the game it is very useful to swap documents and read as much of the information yourself as possible. You should also gather together any documents that you consider to be related to one another.
Client letter
Make sure you have all read the client letter from Tina Bream. It contains information on how you can contact her. Have you already done that?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
Let Tina Bream know that you are happy to help by sending her a message saying ""We accept the case"" via the online chat facility. She will reply to you in a matter of minutes.
Out and about on her bike, Tina Bream can reach lots of locations around Westerlake within a short time. Send her a message containing the name of the location you wish to investigate via the online chat facility. To choose a location and place name, take a look at the land registry map. All locations are circled in red.
If you have a question about a specific location, go straight to that location to check it out.
Land registry map
A number of locations on the map are circled in red. Perhaps someone in Westerlake can find out more about these highlighted locations? Take another look at the client letter.
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!!) click on "additional hints".
1.
Some locations on the land registry map are circled in red. You can send Tina to these places to check them out via the online chat. To do so, simply send her a short chat message which includes the place name (e.g. "Please go to El Chapo").
2.
The map also contains additional information:
- The direction of the river's flow
- An overview of Edward Bream's fields, which are needed for the golf club
- When referred to together with the photo of the kitchen overlooking the sports ground, it reveals the house address (2 Greenview Place).
Police report
The police report contains information about the place where the body was found, as well as the alleged time of incident, the name of the victim, the cause of death and the time of death. It is a good idea to make a note of this information on the diary page.
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
The most important piece of information is the alleged time at which the crime took place. Walter Kramer died on Friday 14.02.2020, sometime between 2 pm and 5 pm. Anyone who has an alibi at this time is therefore not a suspect in this murder case (if indeed this is a murder case!). However, they may well be involved in other goings-on.
Newspaper
The newspaper contains a lot of information. You should pay close attention to it.
Are some individuals ruled out of the investigation due to the contents of specific articles, or does the information provided here create a clearer picture of potential suspects?
Do the classifieds help to clarify any questions on the case?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1. Article about the children's day-care centre:
You surely noticed that the article about the opening of a children's day-care centre in Westerlake gives Tobias Fotheringay a firm alibi. He was attending the opening ceremony at the alleged time of the crime.
2. Article about the golf tournament:
The back page of the newspaper contains an article about a golf tournament, with important details about the year of birth and family of Sonya Harrison-Duprees. You will spot that her father is Frank Harrison-Duprees.
3. Golf club advert:
A new golf club is soon to be built. You can find out more about it by visiting the golf club website: www.diamonds-resort.de. Go to the website and take a look through the information there. If you need help with the site, use the additional hint.
4. Classifieds:
The classifieds reveal the mobile number and email address of Walter Kramer. They also show that the company BeeKind Ltd was dissatisfied with its latest fertiliser supplier. If you want to know who was responsible for supplying their most recent fertiliser delivery, you need to have a look in Walter Kramer's email account.
4. Advertisement for Dschimail:
In addition to the classifieds, you will find an advert for the email account host and cloud storage provider dschimail.com, with whom it would appear that the deceased Walter Kramer has an account. Maybe you can log into Walter Kramer's account.
5. Horoscopes:
The paper also includes the weekly horoscope which - in combination with the information gained from the interrogations stored in the personal client area of lawyers MasonMackenzie - allows access to Walter's cloud storage.
Doctor
What is the name of the doctor who examined Edward Bream? What did he discover and what were his recommendations?
Could the results from the "ANSENIA diagnostics" lab, which specialises in blood tests, perhaps be of help?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
The two documents contain the preliminary report of Dr James Robertson, who performed the examination on Edward Bream, as well as the information that the blood test results can be viewed online.
1.
The preliminary report shows that a challenging future lies ahead for Edward Bream, both in terms of his health prospects and the associated financial impact. He needs cash. Read the letter from the mayor. It contains an offer of a large sum of money for Edward Bream's land, which Edward now urgently needs.
2.
You can view the results of the blood test by sending an email with the subject: "AD20B25" to blood_count@ansenia-diagnostics.com. If you do not receive a reply, take a look at the document here: Bloodtest.pdf
Purchase offer from council
The council has apparently been very interested in Edward's land since 2019. What do they intend to do with it? You can find out by taking a closer look at the golf club website.
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
The offer letter was sent back in April 2019. It is the offer that Walter Kramer (0790***3312) refers to in the WhatsApp chat with Edward Bream. The council needs the land to build a 5* golf club on the site, and wants Edward Bream to sell it. But the offer from 2019 is not accepted. However, Edward's sickness could now force him to sell up because he needs the money.
2.
It is intended that Primrose Way be renamed Foresters Walk. This information is important if you intend to take a more detailed look into the planned golf club.
Diary
Who does the diary belong to? Take a look at the appointments noted in it and who commissioned the diary. This information will point you in the direction of its owner.
The diary provides a useful overview of various activities. Refer to it and enter any further date and time-relevant information that may assist you.
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
The diary belongs to Edward Bream. This is apparent due to Dr Robertson's preliminary report and Edward's medical examination. The report relates to an appointment that is also noted in Edward's diary.
2.
Edward Bream regularly attends Dr Robertson's clinic to receive his vitamin injections.
Interview with Walter Kramer
What personal information does Walter impart during this interview?
Who commented on the interview?
Who reported on the interview, and where else does this individual appear?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
In the interview, Walter talks about his innovative ecological fertiliser, which he needs to launch as quickly as possible. He also mentions that there are no toxic constituents in his fertiliser (unlike earlier products, which contained pesticides made with mercury or arsenic). You can assume that Edward Bream has read the interview and obtained this information.
2.
Walter Kramer mentions that he sold a red Jaguar XK to raise the capital for his first start-up. You can see this car once again in the fax sent to Marty Rawlands. Note that Marty Rawlands is also the journalist who wrote the interview article!
3.
Reggie Gumble, the angry citizen and former employee of Walter Kramer, expresses a negative opinion about his old boss in his comment beneath the article. It would appear that they do not get along with each other. Walter Kramer dismissed Reggie Gumble from his employment.
4.
The second comment was written by Hannah Mallory. It would seem that she also has a grievance with Walter Kramer.
Reviews from PLACEReview
Who left a negative review on PLACEReview? What does the review say about the individual?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
Each of the four sets of reviews includes one from a certain Gumble007. There is only one person who that could be. Reggie Gumble appears to have a very different opinion to everyone else. He's a grump and always finds something to complain about.
Fax with newspaper report
What vehicle model was involved in the car crash? Was the driver at fault taken into custody?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
From the faxed accident report, it is apparent that a red Jaguar XK 8 was involved in the accident and that the driver fled the scene. We also know that two male occupants were in the vehicle. If you read the interview with Walter, you will find out more about the car in question.
2.
Marty Rawlands' family sadly lost their lives in the accident. Why did he request a copy of the article after such a long time? Take a look at the interview with Walter to find out.
Printout of WhatsApp chat
Which two people chat with each other via WhatsApp? One of the phone numbers can be found in another item of evidence. You can identify the second individual based on the chat messages. Take a closer look at when (and at exactly what time) each of the messages was sent.
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
The person who is unwell is Edward Bream. He also made a note of his doctor's appointment in his diary.
2.
The other individual is Walter Kramer. You can match his phone number with the number in the job ad listed under the newspaper classifieds.
3.
The offer mentioned in the chat is the one made by the council for Edward's land back in April 2019, which is needed in order to build a new 5* golf club. Edward could now really do with the money, and he therefore intends to accept the offer and sell his land.
4.
On 13.02.2020 at 2.12 pm, Walter Kramer worked something out. Where was he at that time? Take a closer look at the photo in the kitchen.
5.
To find out what Walter Kramer discovered and where he was that evening (his message from 3.26 pm), you need to log into his email account and cloud storage.
Business card
The business card contains the website address of the lawyer defending Edward Bream. The website https://masonmackenzie.co.uk/ contains the personal client area for Edward Bream.
However, the area is protected by login details. The password is not included in the documents, but you will discover it by alternate means later on in the investigation. Have you already sent Tina to all of the locations marked on the map?
!!! Only read on here if:
- You were in touch with Tina via online chat at least 80 minutes ago and you do not yet know the password
- OR if you have already logged in and need help with the contents of the website
- OR if the online chat function is not working.
You should send Tina Bream to the bathing spot to determine the password. Please be patient, it won't take long!
1. You will get the login for the client area from Mr Mason, Mr Bream's lawyer. He will give you a call in a while, depending on your progress on the investigation. If you don't answer in time, just listen to the audio file here:
If you don't receive the call or you are unable to reach the lawyer, visit the website https://masonmackenzie.co.uk/ and enter the username "Edward Bream" and the password "Organic farmer" to access the information.
2. You can listen to three interrogations on the website.
Audio recording of Edward Bream:
Edward Bream talks about the intended meeting at the bathing spot. According to him, Walter Kramer never showed up. It is not possible to know whether this is actually true based only on the recording.
Audio recording of Reggie Gumble:
Two important pieces of information come up here. Firstly, Reggie Gumble was required to fill HighFlower packaging with fertiliser originally from AgriTec packaging - on the instruction of Walter Kramer. What reason could Walter Kramer have for using fertiliser other than his own for the important tests conducted on Edward's land? That is something you need to find out. The second piece of information concerns the password for Walter Kramer's email account and cloud storage. Listen to the interview and then take a look at the horoscope in the newspaper.
Audio recording of Jack Kennedy:
You discover that Walter Kramer was wearing sports gear. Take a look at Walter Kramer's social media profile. He published a post there, showing his regular running route and times.
Photo "Westerlake Boys Club"
Who are the members in the photo? Can you identify them by referring to other documents?
What is the Westerlake Boys Club symbol? Have you perhaps spotted it on another document?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
The photo shows following club members (from left to right)
Mayor Tobias Fotheringay, Dr James Robertson and Frank Harrison-Duprees. It would seem that these three people have known each other for a long time.
2.
Send Tina Bream to the "Bridge". She sends you a photo of a ring. Do you recognise the symbol on it?
Photo of the kitchen
What do you spot through the window? Take a look at the map of Westerlake and you will be able to match the location to an address. Then you'll be able to work out who lives there.
What does the message on the wall tell you?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
The view from the window shows the sports ground. You can identify the address by referring to the map from the land registry. Take a look at the angle of the view over the sports ground. The address is 2 Greenview Place. It is the home of Walter Kramer and Sonya Harrison-Duprees.
2.
Sonya wrote the note to Walter, telling him that they are invited to lunch with her parents on Thursday. Take a look at the WhatsApp chat between Edward and Walter. Can you spot anything interesting about the times of some of the messages? Something must have happened.
Postcard
Who sent the postcard? You can only (definitively) identify the authors of the postcard if you've logged into Walter Kramer's email account. Although you may well have a suspicion beforehand!
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
The postcard was sent by Hannah and Philip. If you look at the names of the senders in Walter's email account, you will spot that Hannah and Philip are the Mallorys. They are (or were) the owners of BeeKind Ltd. They used Walter's fertiliser last year and were disappointed with the results. They have every reason to be angry with Walter Kramer, because the financial losses they incurred forced them to sell their business. However, the have a watertight alibi at the time of Walter's death - they were on safari in Africa.
Diamonds Resort website
Who is on the board of the planned golf club? On which site is the resort to be built? Take a look at the map from the land registry.
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
Frank Harrison-Duprees and Tobias Fotheringay are on the board. The third board member is unimportant.
2.
A large proportion of Edward Bream's land is required in order to realise the planned project. This can be clearly seen when you refer to the image of the planned site. Compare the plan with the map from the land registry. As stated in the letter from the council, the road "Primrose Way" is going to be renamed "Foresters Walk".
Small pack of sand
(If the game does not include a soil sample, a further document will provide the information that you require. Don't let this discourage you. Take a look at the help topic "Confirmation of testing".)
Where does the soil sample come from? You can answer this question once you've sent Tina to all of the locations marked on the map.
Is there a way of testing this sample? Take a look at the flyer entitled "Institute for Soil Safety".
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
The soil sample was taken from Edward's plot and can be tested with the strips attached to the "Institute for Soil Safety" flyer. Follow the instructions on the flyer.
2.
Results of the analysis:
The soil sample does not contain mercury, but it does have high levels of TPL. Now look at the results of Edward's blood test.
Flyer with test strips
(If the game does not include a soil test flyer, a further document will provide the information that you require. Don't let this throw you. Take a look at the help topic "Confirmation of testing".)
Can you find an additional item in the game that you could use the test strips on?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
Dissolve the soil from the sachet in water and test it for toxins. To do so, follow the instructions on the flyer.
Confirmation of testing
(This document is only provided if you do not have a small pack of sand and a flyer with test strips. If you don't have both items and you do not have a "Confirmation of testing", download the following document
Take a look at the test results. What do you notice? Where exactly does the soil sample come from? To answer this question, you must send Tina to all of the locations marked on the map.
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
The soil sample comes from Edward's plot.
2.
Results of the analysis:
The soil sample does not contain mercury, but it does have high levels of TPL. Now look at the results of Edward's blood test. If you have already logged into the MasonMackenzie website, you will also know why the TPL levels in the soil are high.
Supernet
You have a printout from Walter Kramer's Supernet account.
What does Walter do every Friday? Who visited his profile most recently?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
Walter Kramer takes the same running route every Friday. It would therefore seem likely that he also took that route on the day of his death. Have a good look at the route he took. Are there any locations along his route that Tina Bream could check out for you?
2.
Reggie Gumble and Frank Harrison-Duprees visited Walter's profile most recently. The third visitor is unimportant. They will have surely spotted that Walter Kramer runs the same route every Friday.
Dschimail account
Take a good look at the newspaper. Have you found Walter Kramer's email account? Visit the website of his email provider.
Then enter the password (if you know it) or request a new password. You will be asked three security questions. You will only be able to answer these if you have thoroughly examined the newspaper, the printout from Walter's social media account and his mailbox.
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
You can find Walter's email address in the classifieds: w_kramer@dschimail.com. Go to www.dschimail.com
2. Security questions:
1st question: You will know the colour of his first car from the interview with Walter Kramer. It was red.
2nd question: You will find the year of birth of Sonya Harrison-Duprees in the newspaper: 1974. The month and day of her birthday are indirectly provided in Walter's mailbox: 18.01.
3rd question: You will spot this information on the printout of his social media profile: Walli
1. Email from BeeKind Ltd.
Who owns BeeKind Ltd?
2. Email from Marty Rawlands
Why is Marty Rawlands so interested in this car and the buyer? What else does the email tell you?
3. Email from Kami O'Shea
What is the most important piece of information here?
4. Email from Max Trueman
Walter finds out about Sonya's affair What is he going to do about it now?
5. Email from Notary Westerlake
Walter intends to change his will and remove Sonya as his sole heir. Is that a possible motive for murder?
Dschimail cloud storage
Have you already logged into Walter Kramer's email account? Once you have logged in, you can click on a button there to access his cloud storage.
To determine the password, you need to log into the client area of the MasonMackenzie website. If you have not yet logged in, you need to conduct further investigations first. Otherwise, click on the help topic "Business card".
For further information on Walter Kramer's cloud storage (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
1.
You will discover the password by listening to the interrogation of Reggie Gumble in the MasonMackenzie client area. Then take a look at Walter Kramer's horoscope. The last word (and therefore also the password) is "prowl".
2. The cloud storage contains two documents:
Chat backup: As you will learn from the chat, Walter and Sonya made up again after Walter uncovered the affair. What's more, they discuss their planned escape to Brazil, which is set to take place on 18 February. You will now also know where Walter Kramer was on the evening of 13 February. He was at Edward Bream's farm - and more specifically in the stable (Tina Bream finds his wallet there when you ask her to check out the location). He wanted to test the samples from Edward's field himself, to make sure they contain no mercury.
Own recording: You see a video from 13.02.2020 at 1.50 pm, which was clearly secretly recorded by Walter. Do you know where Walter Kramer was at that time? Take another look at the photo of the kitchen. The individual secretly recorded makes a call and discusses with the person on the other end of the phone that someone was "administered something" and that this same individual comes "regularly" to the other caller, and that next week will be "the last time". If you take a look at Edward Bream's diary page, you will be able to identify him as the "someone". It would therefore seem that he had been administered something with the vitamin injections he is receiving from his doctor, Dr Robertson.
Voicemail
Have you already sent Tina an online chat message asking her to check out the stable? Take a closer look at what she sent you.
If you need further tips on Walter Kramer's voicemail (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
Tina finds Walter Kramer's wallet in the stable. He must have lost it there, the day before he died. It contains not only his ID, but also a reminder card with his voicemail number. Give it a call.
If you are unable to reach the mailbox, you can also listen to the audio file here:
Screenshot of the AgriTec Ltd
AgriTec Ltd fears that Walter Kramer's new fertiliser could cost them a large proportion of their own sales. What methods could an unscrupulous company employ to prevent this?
To obtain further information using this document, also look at Walter Kramer's bank statement and email account.
If you need further help with the screenshot of the AgriTec Ltd inbox (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints". Only use this option once you have successfully logged into Walter Kramer's email account.
AgriTec Ltd has acquired Walter Kramer's company. Although they were prepared to go to any lengths (probably including criminal activities) to prevent the release, this was unnecessary. According to a message in Walter Kramer's email account, the sum of £15 million has changed hands.
Bank statement
The bank statement is from HighFlower Ltd. Do you know who owns the company? Look at the overdraft limit and the debit payment.
You can also find out more about the document in the screenshot of AgriTec Ltd's inbox and in Walter Kramer's email account.
If you need further help with the bank statement (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints". Only do so once you have successfully logged into Walter Kramer's email account.
Walter Kramer is the owner of HighFlower Ltd. According to the bank statement, the overdraft facility of £150,000 is almost exhausted. Walter Kramer was no longer able to afford further costs, which would have fallen payable at the beginning of each month.
The AgriTec payment is also interesting. Why would Walter Kramer buy fertiliser from his competitor? You will discover a clue if you log into the client area of MasonMackenzie (as soon as you have obtained the password).
You can find out how Walter Kramer escaped his "spiralling debt" by checking out his email account.
Hotel card
Take a look at the names noted on the hotel card. According to the entries, they spent a weekend at the hotel together. What conclusions can you draw from the name of the hotel?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
Sonya Harrison-Duprees and Sergio Beneventi spent a weekend together at a romantic hotel. It would appear that they are having an affair. If this should come to light, Walter would certainly strike her from his will.
Place "Field"
If the online chat is not working or you would like to see Tina's answer directly (or if you have any other questions), click on "additional hints".
Tina writes:
Hi! It looks like the sample that I found and sent you also came from here. There are several more lying around. I'm sure they must be samples taken by Edward and Walter. It would definitely make sense to test them. These are the samples I'm talking about: https://media.hidden.games/HiddenGamesTatort/uploads/F3_en_F3_de_Probe.jpeg
Place "Stable"
If the online chat is not working or you would like to see Tina's answer directly (or if you have any other questions), click on "additional hints".
Tina writes:
I've had a good look around the stable. At first, all I could see were old boxes for the cows we used to keep, a mask hanging on the electrical box and straw spread around the area. But then I spotted something really interesting - Walter must have been here again shortly before he died. His wallet is lying on the floor! And I found some strange test strips on the table. All of them are the same colour. Really odd. No one has been here and found these items since the incident and my husband's arrest. It's a good thing you sent me to have another look around.
If you are unable to reach it, you can also listen to the audio file here:
Place "El Chapo"
If the online chat is not working or you would like to see Tina's answer directly (or if you have any other questions), click on "additional hints".
Tina writes:
I’ve been there long enough. I don't think I'll find anything apart from this image in my mind, which I will now never forget, of Sonya sitting at the table with a friend with two plane tickets on the table in front of her. Actually thinking about a holiday! But she also looked exhausted and so sad.
Place "Bathing spot"
If the online chat is not working or you would like to see Tina's answer directly (or if you have any other questions), click on "additional hints".
Tina writes:
All I can find here is the litter left by some idiot smokers. I mean, who smokes these days anyway? It's a pretty rare sight in Westerlake nowadays, that's for sure. Here's the disgraceful scene:
If the online chat is not working or you would like to see Tina's answer directly (or if you have any other questions), click on "additional hints".
The mayor himself has just removed the locks that couples in love frequently attach here. I digress...
I’ll head off now
--------------------
OK I'm here. Take a look at what I've found. I'm unfortunately unable to send it to you, but I've uploaded it to my new Dschimail account.
What information were you able to uncover from the will? What is the most important detail?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
The most important piece of information is that Walter has appointed his partner Sonya as his sole heir.
What would happen though, if Walter were to discover Sonya's affair with Sergio?
Have another look at the messages on Walter's Dschimail server.
Cost estimate for renovation
Who has requested the cost estimate? Take a look at the address. Who lives there? And how much is the work expected to cost?
If you need further tips (spoiler alert!), click on "additional hints".
Tina and Edward Bream live at 11 Primrose Way. The company has been commissioned with performing potential renovation works on Edward's house because he is struggling with certain everyday tasks due to his illness, even finding it hard to go up and down the stairs.
But where is he going to get the money to pay for the work? Since the onset of his illness, work on the organic farm has been temporarily brought to a halt.
If you can answer one or all of the questions, you can view the solutions here to see if you've got it right.
